Sorry Mom, You Were Wrong!
If you're like us, your mom used to yell at you "Get off those video games you'll never find a job playing them..." Well we are proving moms wrong everyday as we host video game parties and get paid!
Video game parties are the latest craze for birthdays. It is easy for moms, fun for kids, and the safest way to host 16-25 sugar crazed kids at your home. Your new life will revolve around video games which is pretty awesome!
In 2009, we were informed that my military career of 13 years was ending due to force shaping. We were given all of 6 months to figure out what we do next and we had no idea what the real world was going to be like. When we arrived back in the United States we found a job market that was non-existent and there were no opportunities to be found, or at least none stateside. I was extremely lucky enough to be hired by an amazing company, United Service Organizations (USO), to manage a USO center in Afghanistan - I loved the USO from my service time so I jumped on the opportunity.
I spent the next year in Afghanistan doing an amazing job where I managed the daily operations for military and civilian personnel in-transit and stationed at Bagram Airfield. We took care of over 25,000 visitors per month and created programs that made their wartime deployment as comfortable as possible. We also facilitated the famous USO Tours that saw many celebrities come to visit these deployed heroes. Needless to say this was one of the most amazing jobs I have ever had - except it was in Afghanistan.
One day I woke up and felt like there was something bigger I should be doing. I had no idea what this feeling was but I knew my time with my awesome company was over. I returned stateside and the first job I saw was advertising "Need driver, truck + trailer, good with kids & know about video games..." Video games piqued my interest immediately so I applied and was contacted within minutes for an interview that was the next day. I was told to meet the owners of the business in a parking lot at a mall, which I found strange, then I showed up and saw my first video game theater. I knew I had found that thing I was supposed to be doing.
I was hired to be a driver for the original game truck owners and within days they found out my background and increased my responsibility to include sales & marketing. I quickly turned a business that had a great concept into a thriving business. I rose in the ranks for sales and after 3 months I was named the #1 Franchise Salesperson in the US for over 200 franchise locations. Unfortunately, my agreed compensation was not met and I was asked to be a "team player" and get paid later. This is a company that I BLEW UP, created massive synergy, and makes a few million dollars revenue per month. I refused and left. Then a competitor set up an interview within hours to which I was hired and given 100% operational control of their business.
The day I walked out of my original video game truck company I told them I would have 2+ trucks in the next 6 months and become their biggest competitor. I set forth on that mission and after a short time the owners of the business explained they had no desire to do it anymore then offered to sell out to me which we made a deal - location #1. Then at closing the partners mentioned another owner that had said he was looking to get out of his business as well so I had them give my information and long story short I made a 2nd deal - location #2. I had fulfilled my promise to get 2 trucks and began our journey.
The lessons we learned after that were hard ones. Anytime you spend over $100,000 to launch a business it is tough but to do it twice in a short time was crazy - or at least for most people it would have been. This put us in a situation where we had to be the smartest people in the industry as we had no margin for error and were all-in. We had to create systems for cost controls, marketing, sales, etc that maximized our only asset - SWEAT EQUITY.
These lessons are the basis of our training program for all new owners. We were forced to create things from nothing and make processes through trial & error because when we started this was new, no one knew what the concept was, no one knew we existed.
You will not start where we did you will begin where we are today. Your business will benefit from our experience and we do not accept failure so we will make sure you succeed.
Game Cave has changed my life and I want to share this opportunity with other veterans.
